The Trivia of Red Wine
If we could sum up all that there is about red
wine what would it be? How about beginning with its health benefits:
How is it that the French can eat so much fat and not get heart
disease? Thank you very much "resveratrol"
a compound found largely in the skins of red grapes. And what about
the latest craze in Buenos Aires whereby beauty salons are offering
red wine therapy to tighten bulging stomachs and sagging breasts!
Red wine is simply amazing and there is no shortage "rules"
either. For example, one of the best known rules is to pair red
wines with meat and white wine with fish. Going further with that
rule let it be known that the darker and richer flavored is the
meat the darker and fuller flavor is the wine!
And speaking of red wine and flavors, there are red grape flavors
that are distinct: Sangiovese, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, zinfandel,
pinot noir, tempranillo, grenache and pinotage just to name a big
handful. And what about the trivia of what pairs well with dark
chocolate? Should we say port and merlot and call it a day?
