Succulent king crab tastes so good with little effort and preparation
There are three types of king crab available:
red, golden and blue. Red: the most sought after is famous for its'
sweet meat. Blue: is similar in taste to red king crab but is larger
and with a larger right claw. Golden: smaller and more affordable
with less meat.
King crab, similar to stone crab is a "crab legs thing!"
Since these crabs possess very little body flesh, extraordinary
considering they can reach up to 25 pounds, the harvestable meat
comes from the legs and claws.
King crab legs are extremely long and delicate. These desirable
crab legs contain meat that is white with a bright red outer edge
and tastes mildly sweet. The claws are also edible but contain less
meat.
Preparing king crab is a cinch. Why? Because these crab legs are
usually sold precooked and immediately flash frozen. This revolutionary
process locks in all the flavors, juices, minerals, vitamins and
allows the seafood to keep for long periods in your freezer.
This precooked method means that all you have to do is choose a
reheating method like boiling, baking or steaming. Serve these king
crab legs with the necessary utensils for cracking and set up the
table ahead of time covered with newspaper for the messy feast ahead!
A simple bowl of garlic butter for dipping the succulent meat is
really all that you need. This preparation can be done in half an
hour.
