Chocolate Bars Have a Variety to Suit Every Taste
When you have the desire for chocolate bars and find the candy
aisle at the store, you are faced with a number of choices. Chocolate
companies have found a variety of ways to make the delicious confectionery
with different flavors and textures. All chocolate is made from
the cocoa bean that is ground to produce cocoa liquor. Fat called
'cocoa butter' and a solid called 'cocoa mass' that makes cocoa
powder are extracted from this liquor. These are what make up all
varieties of chocolate.
Unsweetened chocolate is the cooled and hardened version of chocolate
liquor. This type of chocolate is mainly used in recipes with a
fair amount of sugar. This chocolate does not taste sweet on its
own.
Dark or bitter chocolate is made from cocoa butter, cocoa mass
and sugar. It usually contains a standard of 35% cocoa liquor.
Semi-sweet chocolate is essentially the same thing as sweet cooking
chocolate except the cooking chocolate has more sugar. Semi-sweet
chocolate is made up of 15% chocolate liquor with sugar and extra
cocoa butter added.
Mick chocolate is usually made from 15% cocoa liquor. Cocoa mass,
cocoa butter, milk powder or milk, sugar and vanilla are also added.
White chocolate is really not true chocolate at all. It has no
cocoa solids which leaves the consistency smooth and white. It usually
only has cocoa butter, milk, sugar and vanilla added.
There are a number of other chocolate varieties available and definitely
one to suit every taste. Chocolate is sometimes considered to be
a universal gift. For more information please click on 'gourmet
