Why buy American Caviar?
If you are looking to buy caviar online for someone special
as a gift or for yourself, take a look at American caviar. Unlike
beluga, osetra, and sevruga caviar, (which comes from the Caspian
Sea and is very expensive) American caviar is produced in North
America and costs half the price!
American caviar is sustainably grown
You can order domestically farmed caviar like:
- paddlefish caviar
- white sturgeon caviar
- golden whitefish caviar
- salmon caviar
Caviar tins are usually shipped overnight by Fed Ex. Upon delivery,
be sure to keep it refrigerated until shortly before serving. Unopened
caviar roe can be stored in the fridge for up to 10 days.
About the Flavor...
White sturgeon caviar has a mild and nutty flavor similar to that
of Russian and Iranian Osetra.
Paddle fish caviar (Spoonbill) looks similar to Russian sevruga
and has a mild flavor.
Salmon caviar is revered as being a gorgeous garnish roe and has
great salmon flavor.
Whitefish caviar has a crunchy texture, a crisp clean flavor, and
is a beautiful apricot color.
How much to buy? That depends on how you are planning to eat and
serve.
Serving tips:
- A 1oz jar ~ If caviar is served as an appetizer and the recipe
require a dollop size ½ teaspoon of caviar you can make
8 to 10 caviar appetizers; caviar as a garnish, figure 20 ¼
teaspoon.
- If roe is to eaten straight out of the jar, figure ½
to 1 oz per person.
- A 2oz jar serves 4 people
- To serve ~ the traditional way to serve caviar is in its jar
or tin nestled in a large shallow bowl of crushed ice with its
lid along side and a mother of pearl spoon. You can accompany
the american caviar with blinis, toast points, potatoes, cream
fraiche or a touch of lemon. Enjoy with champagne, iced vodka
or black tea with toast!
