Beef - An American favorite!
Wouldn't you agree that the smell of a barbeque cooking up steak
or burgers is one that you love. It's interesting how universal
the smell appeal is, and how great the memories and associations
many of us have with cooking beef, especially grilling outdoors.
But as a shopper, whether online or at the market, how aware are
you of the standard labels assigned to beef, those that determine
quality? Well if you're looking for more information, let's begin
with what grades are available. In order of highest quality meat
to lesser quality, you have: Prime, Choice and Select. 5 other grades
exist but these usually are typically not sold fresh
Prime, otherwise referred to as Prime-grade beef is the best quality
around. This meat is by far the most expensive and also the most
scarce. In fact, less than 2 percent of all graded beef is Prime
and it's unlikely that you will find this meat at the supermarket.
To buy prime beef you may want to go to a local butcher shop. Online,
we like MyButcher.com. You can order gift packages with filet mignon,
gourmet aged steak, ribeye, porterhouse and much more. And, you
can also order for yourself. (Shipping is reasonable and some freebies
are included). Holidays come and you can send a steak gift box for
as little as $37!
